Freie Universität Berlin is a member in several partnership networks. Within Europe, these are the networks Una Europa, an alliance of eleven European universities aiming to expand and strengthen existing partnerships in teaching, research, and education, and the Europaeum, an association of 19 of Europe’s leading universities that strives to promote young researchers and European collaboration. In addition, Freie Universität is a founding member of UNICA, an association of universities from Europe’s capital cities.

The University Alliance for Sustainability is constituted with four strategic partner universities of FU Berlin outside of Europe. Freie Universität Berlin is also part of the worldwide alliance U7+, which unites 52 universities from 19 countries around the world.
