Deadline for Application and Enrollment

Application Deadlines

study programs with admission restriction + combination bachelor’s degree programs with at least one admission-restricted program component (all semesters)

  • for the summer semester: 01.12. - 15.01.
  • for the winter semester: 01.06.- 15.07.

study programs without admission restriction (all semesters)

  • for the summer semester: 01.12. - 06.03.
  • for the winter semester: 01.06.- 04.09.

Exception: applications for all combination bachelor's degree programs via uni-assist

  • for the summer semester: 01.12. - 15.01.
  • for the winter semester: 01.06.- 15.07.

These deadlines apply only to applications for the first subject-specific semester by applicants from an EU member state, by international students with German university entrance qualifications - regardless of nationality (Bildungsinländer) and by citizens of countries that are signatories to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA), but are not members of the European Union (Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway).

Winter Semester:

  • May 31 of the year in progress for those who have earned their higher education entrance qualification* prior to January 16 of that year and wish to apply through hochschulstart.de (termed “Alt-Abiturienten”)
  • July 15 of the year in progress for the “new” applicants who earn their higher education entrance qualification* after January 16 of the year in progress (termed “Neu-Abiturienten”).

* Higher education entrance qualification: for a second study program = date of degree in first study program / for those with professional qualifications in group 3 = entrance examination

Summer Semester:

  • January 15 for all applicants

Consecutive Master's programs (without Master of Education) with at least one admission restriction in the first semester or higher semester:

  • for the summer semester: 01.12. -  15.01.
  • for the winter semester: 15.04. - 31.05.

Consecutive Master's programs offered without restriction in all subject semesters, and all Master of Education degrees:

  • for the summer semester: 01.12. - 15.02.
  • for the winter semester: 15.04. - 15.08.

Enrollment Master’s programs with unrestricted admission for the first or higher semester admissions notice deadline
Enrollment in PhD and doctoral programs admissions notice deadline or within one month after issuing the admission to doctoral studies

An application is necessary before enrollment! Registration in the application portal is also necessary for degree programs without admission restrictions. You can find the application deadlines here.
