Contents:
The lecture covers how ecological research is applied to pressing social-ecological questions in our increasingly globalized world. The main focus will be on how biotic interactions (such as predator-prey and host-parasite interactions, competition and mutualism) are changing in the face of biological invasions, climate change, urbanization, habitat fragmentation and pollution in the Anthropocene. Classic ecological research concepts and insights are combined with interdisciplinary aspects of modern research fields, for example disease ecology and ecological economics.

Qualification goals:
At the end of the course, participants will have an advanced understanding of biotic interactions and how they are changing in a globalized world. They will be familiar with classic ecological knowledge and how it is applied to ongoing changes in the Anthropocene. Schließen
