Affective states and their brain-body bases

Affective states, like moods and emotions, involve subjective experiences, behavioural-expressive reactions, and physiological processes in the brain and - importantly - the rest of the body. Affective states are thereby closely coupled to how we perceive the world and how we interact with it - and to our mental and physical health. But what are affective states? How can we measure them and their physiology?
In this seminar, we will cover affective states from philosophical, psychological, physiological, and practical perspectives. We will read and discuss recent papers, derive and formulate own research questions, as well as acquire and analyze bodily signals.
