Course Content

This course will explore the laws governing and/or related to the Internet and various forms of technology and spans numerous interrelated topics such as free speech, privacy, reproductive technologies and other medical and technological “wonders.”

While the course will draw extensively upon Anglo-American scholarship, legal texts, and case studies, it will also introduce different philosophical foundations of free speech and other relevant concepts as various as privacy, property, and personhood, with the goal of providing conceptual tools for students to examine the laws and case studies in their home jurisdictions.

Learning Outcomes

  • students with deepen their understanding of laws related to and/or governing the Internet and various forms of technology and the interrelations between these areas of law
  • students will appreciate the role of conceptual and theoretical tools in examining legal texts and cases
  • students will be able to intelligently articulate perspectives and arguments on complex Internet and technology-related legal problems

Reading Materials

judicial opinions, constitutions, statutes, journal articles, news articles, videos, and occasionally, even excerpts of novels

Course Registration:

Exam:

There will be a written final examination.
