Migrant Desires, Immigrant Feeling
Omar Kasmani
Kommentar
This course will revolve around affective archives of migration. By understanding migrant writing, art and diasporic film as genres of feeling, students will learn about displacement (spatial and temporal), home-making and un/belonging as well as migrant and minority relations to dominant and/or colonial histories. Readings will point to the production of borders, racialized infrastructures of mobility as well as temporal questions that make migrancy a hot topic in the present. More importantly, thinking queers, migrants and minorities in conjunction, students will gain an understanding of the politics of alterity but also the im/possibilities of recovery and retrieval. They will equally gain an appreciation for the felt, ephemeral or less visible archives and bodies of migrant knowledge. Schließen
