Doctoral Program Natural Sciences
The doctoral program Natural Sciences (DPNS) is jointly supported by three departments of Freie Universität Berlin:
- Department of Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy,
- Department of Earth Sciences, and
- Department of Physics,
and is a member of Dahlem Research School, the center for junior researchers at Freie Universität Berlin.
The goal of the structured program is to train talented doctoral researchers to become excellent natural scientists. Besides interdisciplinary scientific studies, this is also promoted by accompanying supervision.
In addition to the scientific competences, the doctoral researchers are given the opportunity to develop interdisciplinary competences, especially in the areas of knowledge transfer, scientific integrity and science and research management. Furthermore, they are trained in science-relevant foreign languages as well as gender and diversity aspects. The program prepares doctoral researchers to take on junior positions in universities, research institutions and in public or private institutions for which a special scientific qualification is required.
