The Long Night of the Sciences

As in previous years, Freie Universität Berlin invites you to take part in the annual Long Night of the Sciences – a night of spectacular experiments, exciting presentations, tours, and scientific showcases.

This year’s Long Night of the Sciences will take place on June 17, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until midnight. During this special night of the year, various scientific and academic institutions in Berlin and Potsdam open their doors to the public, offering a range of spectacular experiments, exciting presentations, tours, and scientific showcases, allowing visitors to take a peek behind the scenes of science in action. Join us in diving into the world of science!

The evening’s events are spread around different areas of Berlin. People of all ages are encouraged to come along and take part, with several events aimed at schoolchildren in particular.

The program for this year’s Long Night of the Sciences will be published on May 5, 2023. Tickets can be reserved from May 2023 onwards.

2022 saw the return of the Long Night of the Sciences after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. People came out in force, with more than 20,000 people from Berlin, Potsdam, and the world attending the 1,400+ events on offer.

About the Long Night of the Sciences Berlin | Potsdam

The Long Night of the Sciences has taken place once a year since 2001 (with the exception of 2020 and 2021). The evening of events runs between 5:00 p.m. and midnight and boasts more than 1,400 events for people interested in finding out more about science. The Long Night of the Sciences is largely organized and financed by the academic institutions hosting the individual events. However, the night is also made possible thanks to the support of a range of partners.
