Library Collection

The library building has three floors with approximately 160,000 volumes and 200 current periodicals from all fields of veterinary research and related fields. The building is housed in the converted riding hall of the former student riding club (Reiterverein der Berliner Studenten e.V.) In addition to the regular library materials, the Veterinary Library makes numerous digitized videos related to veterinary science as well as extensive e-learning material available on its website.

Resources

For the nearly 1,350 students and the many researchers from abroad, the library has 70 workstations as well as two group study rooms and a computer pool room set up and run by technicians from ZEDAT Computing Services. On each floor there are computers, copiers, and printers, and in a separate media room there is a Bookeye, well suited for scanning and copying from journal volumes.

On the ground floor there is a reading lounge equipped with comfortable armchairs, inviting library users to browse through fiction or literature about the history of Düppel.

Since the beginning of 2012, the library has a children’s room with separate areas for playing and resting, as well as a workstation for reading and learning. The library also has a separate quiet room with a changing table and comfortable chair suitable for nursing mothers.
