Podcast of the Berlin University Alliance on Scholarship in the Global South

In Meridian, a podcast of the Berlin Center for Global Engagement, researchers speak about their work between cultures

News from Aug 16, 2021

Are science and scholarship really global? How do researchers in Berlin, Germany, and Europe conduct research with colleagues in countries that have up to now been in a marginalized position with regard to global research? How can research collaborations with the Global South help to meet major global challenges? Researhers involved in Meridian, a new podcast of the Berlin Center for Global Engagement (BCGE) hosted by the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) are addressing these issues.

In interviews with the journalist Philipp Eins, scholars describe their lives and their research between North and South, from Berlin to Dakar, from Rio de Janeiro to Manila. The podcast, which can be accessed on the common platforms, invites researchers from the network partners (Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin) as well as scholars from the “Global South” who cooperate with BUA institutions, to talk about their research. The interviewees talk about new perspectives that can be gained by crossing borders and about the challenges that work in different research cultures brings with it.
