From Dahlem to Manhattan: I’m Luise. I am 29, a doctoral candidate at Freie Universität, and will be spending one year at Columbia University, attending seminars and writing my dissertation in political theory. My subject is the moral justification for institutions beyond the state, but in my everyday life I will be spending the next two semesters looking for the best iced coffees on the Upper East Side, the cheapest tickets to the Metropolitan Opera, and the most inviting cocktail bars in Brooklyn.
