After the successful second network meeting a year ago, Freie Universität, Humboldt-Universität, Technische Universität, and Charité, which together form the Berlin University Alliance (BUA), again invited students and researchers from Brazil or scholars cooperating with Brazil this year. More than 150 guests from the various BUA institutions attended the reception on June 26 at the Brazilian Embassy and took the opportunity to exchange ideas across disciplinary boundaries over a Brazilian buffet and cool drinks. The event was opened with a welcoming speech by Jeremias Martins Neto, Head of Science, Technology & Innovation and Cooperation at the Brazilian Embassy. Representatives of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service and the German Research Foundation as well as the Network of Brazilian Researchers in Germany (Apoena) were present to provide advice at information booths and were pleased with the lively interest shown.

Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin maintain close relations with partner institutions in Brazil and would like to increase the visibility of these joint collaborations and create networking opportunities for the academic community based in Berlin. All three universities are supporters of the German House of Science and Innovation (DWIH) São Paulo: The FU has maintained a liaison office in Brazil since 2010, which is located at the DWIH, the TU has been associated with the DWIH as an associate supporter since 2018, and the HU since 2022.
