On November 14, 2017, in an event organized by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and Freie Universität's Institute for Latin American Studies, former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and former German Federal Minister of Justice Herta Däubler-Gmelin discussed the issue of whether Brazil's judiciary is politicized.

Professor Barbara Fritz from the Center for Brazil Studies, Freie Universität, gave a brief introduction, providing background information about the subject. The discussion itself was moderated by Sérgio Costa, a professor of sociology at the Institute for Latin American Studies.

Dilma Rousseff was greeted extremely enthusiastically. Following the discussion, members of the audience had an opportunity to pose questions.
