Combining History Learning and Human Rights Education

International Symposium on September 29 and 30 at Freie Universität

An An international symposium "Education for Change," which will address the connection between human rights education and history learning, will take place on September 29 and 30 at Freie Universität Berlin. The event is aimed at teachers and lecturers involved in teacher education, museum education, and non-formal education. Two new publications on the subject will be presented, a manual and an anthology. There will also be an opportunity to participate in workshops and share contributions from their own experiences and concepts.

The symposium is the final event of a project dealing with the synthesis of human rights education and history learning that was funded by the Remembrance, responsibility, and Future Foundation. This symposium is being organized jointly by the History Education Division at the Department of History and Cultural Studies at Freie Universität Berlin, the Human Rights Education Associates (HREA), right now Human Rights Consultancy & Training, The European Wergeland Centre (EWC), and the Falstad Centre. The conference language will be English, and participation is free.
