Opening Ceremony for Degree Program, M.A. in Childhood Studies and Children’s Rights

New Degree Program at Potsdam University of Applied Sciences

A master's program in Childhood Studies and Children’s Rights, now being offered at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences will be officially inaugurated on October 6, 2016, by Brandenburg's Minister of Social Affairs, Diana Golze. The graduate students beginning the program are from 15 different countries. In Potsdam the new degree program is being directed by Professor Dr. Stefan Thomas and Dr. Urszula Markowska-Manista. Up to now it was offered at Freie Universität Berlin.

The degree program starts each year in the fall and last three semesters. It is interdisciplinary and includes the fields of sociology, political science, and law. The language of instruction is English. The program was designed for graduates of social sciences, law, political science, education, social work, and other disciplines who have some professional experience. It may also be of interest to professionals in governmental and nongovernmental institutions dealing with children and young people, as well as those working in education, social services, health, and justice who already hold a first degree.
