Embassy of the People's Republic of China Presents Freie Universität with Collected Works of Painting from the Song Era

Donation Ceremony on October 21, 2016, at Dept. of East Asian History at Freie Universität Berlin

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Germany is giving the Department of East Asian Art History at the Art History Institute, Freie Universität Berlin, a valuable edition of the collected works of painting during the Song dynasty. The books will be presented to the university during a donation ceremony on October 21, 2016. The event is public, and admission is free.

‪The donation is an edition of the collected works of Song dynasty painting published by the Zhejiang University Center for Ancient Chinese Painting and Calligraphy (2011), currently consisting of 23 volumes. This elaborately designed and valuable edition, which is no longer in print, includes various works of Chinese painting of the Song period (960-1279) that are now found in the collections of more than 100 museums and galleries around the world.‬‬

The following dignitaries will be participating in the ceremony: the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Germany, His Honor Shi Mingde; the dean of the Department of History and Cultural Studies at Freie Universität Berlin, Prof. Dr. Karin Gludovatz; the vice president of Zhejiang University Press Co., Ltd Jin Gengda; the head of the library of the Art History Institute, Freie Universität Berlin, Dr. Ulrike Tarnow; the vice director of the National Publication Foundation Planning and Management Office, Yan Yonggang; and Prof. Dr. Jeong-hee Lee-Kalisch, Chair of East Asian Art History at the Art History Institute, Freie Universität Berlin.
