The Einstein Foundation Berlin has presented awards for three doctoral programs in Berlin. Two of them are based at Freie Universität Berlin, and Freie Universität is a co-organizer of the third. According to the Foundation, the best three doctoral programs in Berlin are the Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies, the Graduate School of North American Studies, and Berlin Mathematical School. On Thursday they were presented with the Einstein Award for Doctoral Programmes. The three programs will receive a total of around one million euros over the next three years. The Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies, which is organized by Freie Universität in cooperation with Humboldt-Universität, will receive 150,000 euros annually for three years, the Graduate School of North American Studies will receive 100,000 euros annually over three years, and Berlin Mathematical School, which is organized jointly by Freie Universität, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and Technische Universität Berlin, will receive 75,000 euros annually over a three-year period. The awards were presented on January 18, 2018, during the annual New Year's reception of the Einstein Foundation in the Altes Stadthaus in Berlin.
