Online Compendium on German-Greek Entanglements

Collaborative project between Center for Modern Greece (CeMoG) at Freie Universität Berlin and Institute for the Study of Greek-German Relations at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

№ 070/2019 from Mar 26, 2019

A new research project deals with historical entanglements in the Greek-speaking and the German-speaking regions. The Online Compendium on German-Greek Entanglements (ComDeG) is a collaborative project between the Center for Modern Greece (CeMoG) at Freie Universität Berlin and the Institute for the Study of Greek-German Relations at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The emerging platform aims to demonstrate the common history of Greek and German culture from the 18th century to the present day. The ComDeG project is sponsored by the German Federal Foreign Office with funds from the German-Greek Future Fund.

The digital reference work ranges from political, social, and economic topics to scientific and cultural aspects. The contents take the form of essays as well as encyclopedic articles. The content development of the Compendium corresponds to the development of a German-Greek research network and is based on workshops in Berlin and Athens.

Ideas and concept proposals will be presented at the kick-off event in Athens on April 1. The event will be opened by the heads of the project, Prof. Dr. Miltos Pechlivanos from Freie Universität Berlin and Prof. Dr. Alexandros Kyrtsis from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
