“A Global Perspective on Refugee Youth Experience: Research, Field Practice, and Policy”

A public panel discussion on October 24 at Freie Universität Berlin

Academic and practical approaches to the challenges and experiences of refugee youth will be the focus of a public panel discussion on October 24 starting at 6:00 p.m. at Freie Universität Berlin. The panel participants scheduled to appear include Youth Ambassador Abdulkarim Albrem (UNHCR), associate professor of clinical psychology Sita Patel (Palo Alto University, USA), and assistant professor of psychology Stathis Papastathopoulos (University of Ioannina, Greece). The event will be moderated by Lina Alhaddad, doctoral candidate and research assistant in the Refugee Youth Project, which is part of the Cross-Cultural Developmental Psychology working group at the Department of Education and Psychology, Freie Universität Berlin. The project studies the challenges faced by refugee youth, their mental health, as well as their decision-making processes and experiences of acculturation. The event will be held in English. Admission is free. No advance registration is required. The panel is part of the two-day workshop “Berlin Workshop on Refugee Youth,” taking place from October 24 to 26 at Freie Universität Berlin. The Cross-Cultural Developmental Psychology working group is organizing the event.
