German Federal Foreign Office brings “Germany in the UN Security Council” exhibition to Freie Universität in the Henry Ford Building / Vernissage on January 21 and finissage on January 30

№ 010/2020 from Jan 14, 2020

A temporary exhibition in the Henry Ford Building on Freie Universität Berlin’s campus draws attention to the United Nations Security Council and Germany’s two-year membership from 2019 to 2021. From January 21 to 30 visitors can find out more about the important work the Security Council does and the special topics and goals that the German delegates have brought to the table. Part of the exhibition in fact includes a replica of the large horseshoe-shaped negotiating table from the UN Security Council Chamber in New York. The exhibition, entitled “#strongerUNited: Germany in the UN Security Council,” opens on January 21, 2020, as part of the “FUN DAY” events at Freie Universität. First, institutions and initiatives that deal with topics related to the United Nations and human rights at Freie Universität will introduce themselves. Afterwards, different speakers will give talks on Germany’s membership on the council, as well as career paths at the Federal Foreign Office and the United Nations. The exhibition comes to a close on January 30 with a public simulation of a UN Security Council meeting led by Freie Universität’s Model United Nations Program team of students. Admission to the exhibition is free of charge. No advance registration is required.
