Freie Universität Berlin’s International Continuing Education Program Starts Its Next Round of Courses

Certificate courses through the FUB-ContinuEd program offered in fall 2024

№ 143/2024 from Jul 09, 2024

FUB-ContinuEd, the international continuing education program of Freie Universität Berlin, will begin its next round of online and on-site certificate courses in fall 2024, with registration now open. International students and lifelong learners can choose from a variety of predominantly English-language courses in the subject areas of communication, (self-)leadership, project management, and sustainability. The course on positive pedagogy, designed specifically to provide teachers with tools that they can integrate into their day-to-day work, is being held online for the first time. After successfully completing three courses from one of five core areas, participants receive an additional certificate and become a “Certified Expert” in their chosen subject area.

The FUB-ContinuEd course program for fall 2024 is now available on the program website. FUB-ContinuEd offers international certificate courses that are especially designed for people who want to supplement their professional qualifications with practical skills to help them navigate an increasingly globalized workplace. The aim of FUB-ContinuEd is to address and combine a broad range of cross-sector topics that help participants to deal with pressing social issues and changes in their professional world. This includes topics such as leadership and change management; resilience and conflict resolution; project management; intercultural communication; and diversity and sustainability in work and everyday life. Furthermore, academics, students, and doctoral candidates, for whom German is a foreign language, can improve their academic writing skills in the “Academic Writing in German” course. The course “Positive Futures – Die Hoffnungswerkstatt,” specially designed for teachers, is taking place online for the first time and is recognized as Bildungsurlaub (educational leave) in several federal states in Germany.

Over a period of seven to nine weeks, the classes (most of which are taught in English) impart findings from current research to participants and link that knowledge to practical case studies and the demands of the workplace. Participants receive a certificate from Freie Universität Berlin upon successful completion of the course. By participating in three courses from one of five core FUB-ContinuEd areas, it is also possible to earn an additional certificate with the “Certified Expert” badge and benefit from a discount.

In addition to the regular range of course offerings, individually tailored continuing education courses for closed groups can also be held upon request. This is particularly suited to companies and organizations that are looking to train groups internally and adapt the course content to meet their specific needs.
