The nursery school operated by the Studierendenwerk Berlin student union at Freie Universität Berlin is located near the green campus in Dahlem. The nursery school offers 180 childcare placements in all. These placements are available to those affiliated with any university or university of applied sciences in Berlin. Preference is given to children of those affiliated with Freie Universität. Registration requires a childcare voucher (Kita-Gutschein), which is requested from the youth welfare office (Jugendamt) in the district where the family lives.

Freie Universität Berlin maintains a block of 13 placements for children of new appointees and German and international visiting scholars and scientists who have been invited by Freie Universität as well as recipients of scholarships, grants, and fellowships who are attending graduate schools. If there is available space at the school, children can be admitted quickly and without a lot of bureaucratic hassle from the age of eight weeks up until school age, even without a childcare voucher. Placements are allocated via the Dual Career & Family Service at Freie Universität.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday: 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (late care provided until 6:30 p.m. by prior arrangement).
