Online Workshop: Maximising (your) academic output, visibility and impact: how to build a solid academic profile through a targeted publication strategy
On 1.-2. July 2021, online workshop held for members of the AiS network.
With the “metricization” of science, researchers are increasingly under pressure to publish more, get more citations and boost their h-index. This is often requested mechanically, with little interest on whether more publications also means better science or a deeper impact on the society or the research community at large.
The workshop brought together nineteen members of the Academics in Solidarity Network to discuss building capacities to publish in journals and finding a balance between what is expected from authors and what they are willing to do.
The workshop was held by guest lecture Dr. Abel Polese, author of the book “The SCOPUS Diaries and the (il)logics of Academic Survival: A Short Guide to Design Your Own Strategy and Survive Bibliometrics, Conferences, and Unreal Expectations in Academia”.
