The initiative, “Bioeconomy International” was developed under the National Research Strategy Bioeconomy 2030, and will now be continued under the Federal Government's new Bioeconomy Strategy.

The research funding by the BMBF under this strategy is divided into six building blocks, of which the first building block "Biological knowledge as the key to the bioeconomy" is particularly relevant to this funding initiative.
