Sep 18, 2018

An Egyptian-German Education conference to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the PASCH Inititiative in Egypt!

The Freie Universität Berlin Cairo Liaison office participated in the Egyptian-German Education conference, which was held in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the PASCH Inititiative in Egypt on 28th September at the German School in Dokki. The conference was organized by the German Embassy in Cairo, the Goethe Institute, the central administration of German schools abroad (ZFA), the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The PASCH initiative (short for Schools: Partners of the Future) was launched in 2008 by the Federal Foreign Office with an aim to create a global network of now more than 1800 partner schools worldwide with special links to Germany.

The purpose of the conference was to discuss current relevant topics around German education in Egypt to exchange ideas and to foster cooperation. In the frame of the Egyptian German Education Conference 9 different workshops were held in parallel offering the school principals and students of the around 30 PASCH schools from all over Egypt an interesting mix of topics to choose from. The Freie Universität Berlin Cairo Liaison Office actively participated in the workshop on study opportunities after the PASCH school by highlighting the BIDS initiative that is being implemented at the university since 2012. BIDS, which is the advising initiative for German schools abroad and partner schools, has been successful ever since in facilitating the entry into the university life for these school alumni in particular.
