Database Catalog: Datenbank-Infosystem (DBIS)

DBIS is a reference system for searching the 1,700+ databases maintained by Freie Universität. Currently only available in German, DBIS is an online portal used by more than 300 libraries from across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. One advantage of this is that library users can use it to find out what databases are available at other libraries. When using DBIS, simply go to “Bibliotheksauswahl / Einstellungen” (select a library / settings) to change institutions and see what is available elsewhere.

Each library can choose various “free” databases to complement its own collection of licensed databases. Like the Electronic Journals Library (EZB), DBIS uses a traffic light system to indicate access levels (freely available, licensed work within the campus network, etc.).

The databases are organized according to subject based on the Regensburg Library Classification System. By clicking on a subject area, you can then choose how you want the results to be displayed (alphabetically, by database type, or by access type). You can use the “Erweiterte Suche” (extended search) function to expand and/or specify your search.
