Freie Universität Berlin (FUB) and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) signed agreements (2008 and 2018) for promoting high quality research opportunities for doctoral students from outstanding Chinese universities. With more than 480 CSC scholarship holders, Freie Universität Berlin is one of the most important host universities in Germany and is a major partner university of the CSC. The program includes all fields of studies (except engineering programs) at Freie Universität Berlin.

The Beijing Office of Freie Universität Berlin acts as a bridge connecting professors of Freie Universität Berlin and Chinese CSC applicants in the framework of the FUB-CSC Program: Professors of FUB who are interested in supervising Chinese PhD students, offer certain PhD positions. Chinese candidates can then apply to the FUB Beijing Office for one of these open PhD positions.

Each year Freie Universität Berlin will publish an extensive number of open PhD positions in a variety of research areas for CSC candidates who want to conduct their research in Berlin with a CSC scholarship.

Please note:
For cheching your Eligibility regarding the CSC scholarship, it is important to contact the CSC coordinator at your university / research institute or your superiors at your workplace. Please check also the information on the terms and conditions of the CSC scholarship on the website of the CSC (www.csc.edu.cn) before you apply for one of the offered PhD positions of the FUB-CSC Program.
