CfA: PhD positions in Literary Studies (Deadline: December 15, 2019)

The Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School of Literary Studies (FSGS) as well as the Cluster of Excellence 2020 "Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective" at Freie Universität Berlin are calling for applications for the following scholarships and research assistant positions:

  • Up to 3 Project Scholarships for a period of 9 months. The FSGS supports PhD students with this temporary funding while they apply for an external scholarship (e.g. from a foundation).
  • 2 DAAD scholarships for international graduates of German philology who are currently living abroad (or have come to Germany in 2019 at the earliest). These scholarships are granted for a period of four years.
  • 5 positions (research associate, E13 TV-L FU, 50%, 3 years) at EXC 2020 / FSGS as members of the following projects:
  • (Post-)soviet cosmopolis (Lead PI: Prof. Dr. Susanne Frank)
  • Enlightened Mediality in a Global Perspective (Lead PI: Prof. Dr. Frank Kelleter, Prof. Dr. Miltos Pechlivanos, Prof. Dr. Anita Traninger)
  • Die Transnationalität literarisch-theatraler Räume und Zeiten (Lead PI: Prof. Dr. Jürgen Brokoff, Prof. Dr. Matthias Warstat)
  • Konzepte und Praktiken digitaler Autorschaft (Lead PI: Prof. Dr. Michael Gamper)
  • Studying Academic Discussions on the Art of Poetry in Late Renaissance Florence: An Interactive Website (Lead PI: Prof. Dr. Ulrike Schneider)
  • 1 position (research associate, E13 TV-L FU, 50%, 3 years) at EXC 2020 / FSGS or GSNAS in the context of one of the Research Areas 1-4 (individual project)
    • Individual project (Research Area 1-4)

Successful applicants to the research associate positions at the Cluster of Excellence "Temporal Communities" will have a dual affiliation as research associates at the cluster and as doctoral candidates at the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School of Literary Studies (FSGS). If suitable, an affiliation with the Graduate School of North American Studies (GSNAS) is possible as well.
