Motivated by the successful commitment of the FU Berlin in India, a delegation from IIT Indore headed by the Director, Prof. Prof. Suhas S. Joshi, visited the Freie Universität Berlin on March 14, 2023 as part of a trip to Germany. The aim of the meeting was to establish first contacts and to get to know each other. It was initiated by Prof. Sonawane, Dean of International Relations and Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, who was already a guest at the Freie Universität Berlin. Indore is one of the "young" IITs set up by the Indian government in 2008 to train highly qualified employees for the rapidly growing Indian economy. The IIT has been working on the Indore campus since 2016 and comprises ten technical and scientific departments as well as the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. The President of the Freie Universität Berlin Prof. Dr. Günter M. Ziegler, Dr. Herbert Grieshop, Head of Department IV – International and Mr. Bertram Welker, India Advisor at the Center for International Cooperation gave the guests an overview of the Indian students and doctoral candidates at FUB and its commitment in the region. It was also discussed how the two institutions could possibly work together in the future.
