Dahlem Humanities Center’s intellectual vitality will depend on its ability to render the agenda of the existing research areas even more dynamic. One important device will be the new activities and programs which are meant to open the Center in two directions: toward international developments in research and teaching in the humanities on the one hand, and toward non-university institutions concerned with cultural practices on the other. In addition, continuous impulses from scholars in the humanities departments at Freie Universität (FU) are encouraged. In order to help generate these impulses, the Center will convene a forum regularly, open to all members of the university.
