Refubium: Freie Universität Berlin's Institutional Repository

Members of Freie Universität Berlin have the option of publishing their research data via the institutional repository Refubium. Published data are available for unrestricted use worldwide via the internet and can be retrieved via different catalogues, search engines, and referencing systems. Along with long-term data storage for a minimum of ten years, the University Library can assign free persistent identifiers service – such as DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) – to ensure that research data is permanently findable, retrievable and citable

Data sets from all disciplines are retrievable via Refubium’s Research Data section. You can also consult the Refubium A to Z. The guidelines for publishing research data provide an overview of the regulations on data publication.

Providing descriptive metadata for research data during the publishing process makes it easier to find and subsequently use them. During the process, we reserve a DOI in advance of publication that can be used to reference the research data in research papers, for example. Data documentation – for example, through describing the data and their production process via a README file – is also recommended. Each data set is licensed with a Creative Commons license or similar to ensure secure future use.

We recommend publishing your research via an established subject-specific repository if one exists for your discipline. You can find an overview of different scholarly repositories on re3data. The Research Data Management team can support you in finding the appropriate repository.
