German Insurance Package
FU-BEST participants need proper international health insurance for the duration of their studies in Germany – accident or emergency insurance will not suffice. This is necessary for a) enrollment at Freie Universität Berlin and b) proper and timely acquisition of the German residency permit issued by Berlin’s immigration authority once students are on-site.
Every FU-BEST participant will automatically be enrolled in the German insurance package that combines health, accident and liability insurance. The cost is 200 Euros for the entire semester. The package will be added to the invoice after the student's admission to the program.
The insurance package is strictly limited to the program dates and has certain coverage restrictions (e.g. pre-existing conditions). It is therefore highly recommended that participants keep their primary health insurance plan in their home country for the duration of the FU-BEST semester.
