Purpose of Survey
The information gleaned from the survey is used to improve the study programs and the service and support options offered. In order to do this, summary findings are submitted to the university’s various committees (e.g., Board of Trustees, Academic Senate, Teaching Committee, department councils, deans and deans of student affairs) for discussion. The subject-related reports of results will be transmitted to the employees responsible for quality development within the departments/central institutes as a basis for data-driven further development of study programs and support services.
Surveys of students enrolled in master’s degree programs have been a regular part of the quality management activities of Freie Universität Berlin since 2013. These surveys are conducted every four years.
The questionnaire mainly collects assessments from the students’ point of view about study program structure and the support services offered. Both aspects are important factors in terms of both the feasibility of completing the program and student satisfaction, which makes them crucial starting points for quality assurance.
In addition to a core made up of unchanged questions, which is intended to ensure that the results of surveys conducted at different times are comparable, updated questions are added to the questionnaire on an ongoing basis.
The final report on the current survey will be published at the beginning of the summer semester 2022 on this website. You can also find the reports from past surveys here (in German).
