In teaching, we aim for a broad integration of sustainability content into the university curriculum and the implementation of the concept of Education for Sustainable Development.

Furthermore, the university is striving for certification by the European eco-audit EMAS - Eco-Management and Audit Scheme. On a basis of an open culture of discussion, we discuss these goals with stakeholders inside and outside the university.

The mission statement is based on a draft by Sustain it! – Initiative for sustainability & climate protection. As part of a university-wide participation process, students, scientists and employees have dealt with the sustainability model. A total of 80 different proposals were discussed in a public workshop. As a result, in March 2016, the university executive committee passed a correspondingly adapted sustainability mission statement.
