When disposing of file folders, the following distinctions should be made:
- Empty file folders or cardboard folders with metal mechanisms should be disposed of in the residual waste, as it is usually not possible to separate the cardboard from the metal with reasonable effort. The same applies if the folder is made of cardboard with a plastic coating or has a plastic coating.
- Please empty full folders: Put paper and cardboard in the waste paper collection. Empty any stapled plastic covers, remove any plastic separator sheets and dispose of them in the yellow bin. Dispose of the empty folder as described above.
- If the entire folder contains confidential documents or if there are papers with confidential contents in the folder, they must be shredded. See more details under Files for Data Destruction.
