Batteries, including lithium-ion batteries, rechargeable batteries and button cells must be collected separately and sent for recycling.

The collection on the university campus is mostly done in cardboard boxes of the company ReBat, which you can find e.g. at the porter's lodge of the Rost- and Silberlaube or at other places in the entrance areas of the larger properties. If you are unable to find a used battery collection box in your area, it is best to contact your superintendent.

Full boxes are reported via the janitors to the Sustainability & Energy Staff Office, Special Disposal Team, who will then arrange for collection for recycling by the ReBat company.

ATTENTION: Please do not put car batteries and similar starter batteries as well as rechargeable batteries weighing more than 500 grams in the collection boxes, but always dispose of them in direct contact with the Sustainability & Energy Staff Office, Special Disposal Team.
