Chemicals

>>> Special disposal via the Sustainability & Energy Management Unit

Any kind of chemicals must not be disposed of in residual waste, but must be sent for hazardous waste disposal with verification in accordance with strict legal requirements. To ensure correct disposal, the term chemicals is therefore defined broadly. This includes e.g.:

  • laboratory chemicals or laboratory chemical residues in original containers
  • solvents, used solvents in canisters or original containers
  • Solvent-water mixtures
  • Acids and alkalis
  • Solutions containing heavy metals
  • Mercury-containing solutions
  • Photographic chemicals (developers and fixers)
  • Pesticides
  • Cleaning agents and detergents in original containers that can no longer be used,
  • Disinfectants that can no longer be used,
  • Used oils and oil-water mixtures in containers
  • Residues of paints and varnishes that have not cured,
  • residues of glues and adhesives that have not hardened.

In all cases, please contact the Sustainability & Energy Staff Office, Special Waste Disposal Team for clarification on the disposal.
