If filters contaminated with chemical alkalis are produced in the course of filter changes on ventilation systems or laminar flow benches, these must be disposed of as special waste. For more details, see Laboratory Operating Materials.

However, if the filters are free of hazardous substances, they can also be placed in the residual waste.
