Laboratory glass (heat resistant)
Partly >>> residual waste, partly >>> special disposal via the Sustainability & Energy Unit
Heat-resistant laboratory glass, like all types of glass that have a different melting temperature than container glass and would therefore interfere with the glass recycling process, does not belong in the used glass collection. The following distinction applies here:
◾ Clean laboratory glass should be disposed of in the residual waste.
◾ Lab glass contaminated with chemicals can be disposed in small quantities in the laboratory equipment waste. For larger quantities, please contact the Sustainability & Energy Unit, Special Disposal Team, or use the form to request special disposal.
ATTENTION: Original chemical bottles, if they have been cleaned and possibly outgassed and the hazardous substance labelling has been removed or made unrecognisable, i.e. e.g. brown 2.5 litre bottles, can be disposed of in the waste glass in deviation from the above statements, as this is so-called container glass.
