In addition to plastic packaging, all metal packaging also belongs in the yellow garbage can. It does not matter whether the packaging has a "green dot" on it, because there are now other collection systems in accordance with the packaging ordinance. In the yellow garbage may therefore belong:

• Aluminum trays, aluminum lids, aluminum foils
• Crown corks
• Tin cans made of tinplate

In Berlin, the yellow garbage can is operated as a so-called recycling garbage can. This means that waste of the same material not falling under the packaging ordinance may also be disposed of in the yellow garbage can. Thus, for example, the following waste can also be disposed of in the yellow garbage can:

•  Metal cooking pots (steel pots, but also enameled pots)
•  Metal pans (cast iron pans, but also enameled pans)
•  Metal tools

ATTENTION: Please collect larger quantities of recyclable metal materials together with electrical and electronic scrap separately, as the waste disposal company grants allowances for this. If required, please contact the Sustainability & Energy staff unit, Special Waste Disposal team.
