For empty toner cartridges and ink cartridges from printers and copiers, as well as from multifunction printers, there is a separate collection structure at Freie Universität Berlin.

The collection in the buildings takes place in cardboard boxes from the Demski company. The locations can be obtained from your department or institute administration or from the janitors. If you cannot find out where to drop off empty toner cartridges in your area, please contact the Sustainability & Energy Office, Special Disposal Team.

Full cartridges are reported via the janitors or the administrations to the Sustainability & Energy Unit, Special Disposal Team, who will then arrange for them to be picked up for recycling by the Demski company.

Alternative for the return of Ricoh toner cartridges:

For Ricoh devices (mostly larger copiers or multifunction printers), you can also return the empty toner cartridges directly to Ricoh. To do this, you can take direct action yourself as follows:

• First, register on the site: https://www.ricoh-return.com/de/start/63 or log in if already registered.
• Print a shipping label or order a Ricoh environmental box for the return of multiple toner cartridges.
• Free returns within the Ricoh Resource Smart Return program.

ATTENTION: If you have full toner cartridges that you no longer need because you no longer use the associated device or it no longer exists, offer the toner cartridges in our FUndgrube, the FU marketplace for reuse of used items. There you will find a wide range of toner cartridges that other colleagues will be happy to take advantage of.
