Global Humanities Senior Research and Teaching Stay at the Chinese University of Hong Kong

Ole Döring's current research focuses on “Integrity and Adherence in Science and Medicine”, “Genetic Information: Epistemic, Organizational and Ethical Frameworks”, “Caring for the Elderly: Cultural Standards and Social Conditions for best Practice”, and a „Curriculum for Chinese Philosophy“. With the CUHK, he will use his Global Humanities Senior Research and Teaching Stay Fellowship to advance the theoretical and methodological base as well networking for his Chinese Philosophy Program. This includes Sino-European approaches to ethics, aesthetics and epistemology as well as philosophy of science and language. He will offer a public lecture about the Meaning of the Classics For Us Today.

Dr. Ole Döring (Ph.D. habil., M.A.phil) is a Philosopher, Professor for Sinology at Freie Universität Berlin and Visiting Professor for Chinese Philosophy at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He started his work in Asia at Hong Kong University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1996. He has taught at several universities, conducted research all over the continent, and organised many China-European academic activities. He received honorable appointments from Chinese and international academic bodies. In 2009, he was awarded from the Journal „Yixue yu Zhexue“ for the advancement of ethics in China. Ole Döring also plays an active role in engaging science-society interaction and serves as an advisor for companies and governmental bodies. His vast work is published widely.
