ZIM – How the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy supports innovative SMEs

In the ZIM-project "BoarZin", Dr. Ing. Stefanie Orquera and Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Alter from the Institute of Food Safety and Food Hygiene of the Freie Universität found out whether boar semen can be preserved in pig farming without antibiotics.

In the ZIM-project "BoarZin", Dr. Ing. Stefanie Orquera and Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Alter from the Institute of Food Safety and Food Hygiene of the Freie Universität found out whether boar semen can be preserved in pig farming without antibiotics.

ZIM is a nationwide program that is open to all technologies and industries and aims to foster cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises with up to 499 employees and research institutions. The program, which is operated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), is intended to strengthen these companies’ innovative drive and competitiveness on a lasting basis, thereby securing and creating jobs.

Scholars, scientists, and researchers from Freie Universität Berlin are involved in numerous ZIM projects in cooperation with companies. Applications for support can be submitted on an ongoing basis.
