University Alliance for Sustainability Student Research and Study Stay at Peking University July - September 2015

Philosophy 

In his two-month research stay at Peking University Maikel investigated sustainability in the light of 體/体 (ti-essence/foundation/principle) and 用 (yong-usefulness/function/application) on the level of philosophical groundwork research. The critical assessment of sustainability in the Chinese context should open up a discourse that is not predetermined or dominated by “western” concepts and open up a horizon to develop inter and transdisciplinary solutions for environmental, social, economic and cultural issues connected with the idea of sustainable development.
