Soohyun Kim, third year undergraduate Computer Science student at the University of British Columbia, has introduced the idea of displaying Freie Universitat Berlin’s energy consumption data on the university’s website. During her one month internship at FUB, she programmed a separate excel database of six main buildings of the university campus by calculating their monthly energy performance. The analyzed results were then interpreted through interactive traffic light displays, bar graphs, and CO2 emission conversion tree diagrams. In addition, she created a real-time chart display of the university's total energy consumption by requesting JSON response through RESTful API calls in php, using Javascript, HTML, and CSS. The project will serve as a guideline for interested students, researchers and educators to better understand and compare the university's monthly energy performance.
