The Paris Climate Agreement set ambitious targets, and requires that all signing countries put forward their best efforts through “nationally determined contributions” (NDCs) and to strengthen these efforts in the years ahead. What was widely seen as a promising step into the right direction, though, may soon enter rough waters as government of some countries seem not to be eager to follow through with Paris commitments.
