From October 20 until 21, on the Komaba Campus of renowned Tokyo University, the Second Eastern Asian DAAD Centers Conference took place under the title "Modernization in Europa and Eastern Asia: Germany's Role in the Constitution of Modern Science and Education Culture in Japan, Corea, China". In their talks, the participating scholars from the hosting center DESK Tokyo, the ZEDES Seoul, the ZDS Peking, University Gießen, German Council on Foreign Relations, Fritz Bauer Institute, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin drew a bow from the beginning of the 20th century to up-to-the-minute events and from the Eastern Asian Reform Era to actual political phenomena in Germany.
