Save all required documents individually and name them according to their content. Accepted file formats are pdf, jpeg, png, bmp, docx with a maximum size of 2MB each. We do not accept links to external storage locations or zip files. Send all required documents as e-mail attachments to the e-mail address that applies to you with the subject "last name, first name, applicant number (or "last name, first name, concurrent enrollment" or "last name, first name, doctorate" in the case of concurrent enrollment or doctoral enrollment): imma-bachelor@studium.fu-berlin.de, imma-staatsexamen@studium.fu-berlin.de, imma-master@studium.fu-berlin.de. These addresses are only for submitting applications for enrollment /  applications for a change of degree program. If you have further questions about enrollment, please contact the Info-Service Studium or refer to our website "FAQ Enrollment", as the above e-mail addresses ("imma-xxx@studium.fu-berlin.de") will not answer any questions.

After you have submitted your enrollment documents, you will receive an automatically generated confirmation of receipt and, if necessary, a follow-up request for missing documents. Please check your spam folder if necessary.

For enrollment by mail, we need the following documents from you:

1. Notice(s) of admission or, in the case of admission-free degree programs, the notification of enrollment

2. Control view from the online data entry

3. Completed application for enrollment

4. Valid form of identification (e.g., passport or ID) verifying your complete surname, first name, date of birth, and expiration date. You are permitted to black out sections that are irrelevant to the proof of your identity. The copy´s sole purpose is to verify your identity and to protect you from potential identity theft. Once your enrollment is completed this copy is immediately destroyed. The submission of a valid visa copy to universities is not necessary. Further information is available on the website of the Berlin Immigration Office.

Please note: A change of name for Trans, Intersex, and Non-Binary Students during the enrollment process is possible. Please find here which documents have to be submitted additionally.

5. Before final enrollment, electronic proof of health insurance status must be provided by a German statutory health insurance provider. The health insurance provider will either inform us that you are covered by statutory health insurance or - e.g. in the case of private health insurance - that you are exempt from the statutory insurance obligation. Please inform the health insurance provider of the FU Berlin sender number: H0000657. Explanations on how to apply for electronic proof can be found here (chip card, paper certificate are not sufficient).

Please note: Submit the enrollment application by the deadline! The electronic notification can also be sent to us by the responsible health insurance provider after the end of the enrollment period.

7. If applicable, proof of sufficient German language skills if you have a foreign certificate of eligibility for university study (not applicable if you already have submitted/uploaded this proof to ´uni-assist`)

8. If applicable, a language certificate if your language skills are not reflected in your certificate of eligibility for university study (not applicable if you have already submitted/uploaded this proof to ´uni-assist`)

9. If applicable, placement notice for previous studies, issued by the appropriate board of examiners/department representative (not applicable for Master)

10. Having been admitted within the contingent for minors (indicated by the ranking on the notice of admission): current registration certificate on your principal residence at a custodial person (e.g. parent, guardian) at application time

11. If applicable, last enrollment certificate from a German university, stating the subject and number of subject-related and university semesters (not applicable if you last studied at Freie Universität Berlin)

12. If applicable, a certificate of withdrawal or other removal from the student register at the last German university attended

13. If applicable, degree / certificate and official translation (not applicable if you already have submitted/uploaded this proof to ´uni-assist`)

14. Credit Institut: DEUTSCHE BANK PGK AG
IBAN: DE45100708480513128908
BIC or SWIFT: DEUTDEDB110
Reference for transfer: applicant numberBW, e.g. 1234BW
(Please only use this reference as “reason for transfer.”)

Note: For transfers from (non-EU) countries, additional bank charges may apply, which must be borne by the applicant. Please select the OUR option (you pay all transfer fees) when making transfers. This is the only way the full semester contribution will go to Freie Universitaet's account. Otherwise, the enrollment will be delayed because the missing amount has to be reclaimed. In addition, when you transfer the missing amount, you still have to pay the additional transfer fees.

Enrollment will not take place until the corresponding amount has been received in full on the account of Freie Universität Berlin and when all other requirements have been met.
