Who is applying where?

The application path for a study place depends on the subject, the nationality, and type of university entrance qualification. More detailed information on the subject is available at: "Welcome to the Admissions Office".
For example, these bachelor's degree programs are in the Dialog-Oriented Service Procedure (DoSV).


Applicants with a German Higher Education Entrance Qualification (HZB:  Abitur)

... also from recognized German schools abroad, apply for the 1st semester of almost all undergraduate study programs directly to the Admissions Office (Bereich Bewerbung und Zulassung) at Freie Universität Berlin. Applicants for many Mono Bachelor degrees (single subject) choose the so called Dialogorientiertes Serviceverfahren (DOSV).

Exception: Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine are the only study programs at Freie Universität whose freshmen places are currently being allocated by Hochschulstart.de (in German). Medicine and Dentistry are no longer assigned to Freie Universität, but to Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

Which Application Procedure applies for which Course of Studies?


Applicants with a foreign University Entrance Qualification (HZB)

... apply regardless of citizenship (Staatsangehörigkeit) for the undergraduate courses at Freie Universität via "uni-assist".

Exception: Members of EU and applicants from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway apply for Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine at Hochschulstart.de (in German).

Application for Master's Programs and Doctoral Studies
