Group and Competition Trips
PROMOS funds group study trips and competition trips worldwide with the exception of:
- Trips that are organized for tourists or with mainly touristic programs
- Lecture or congress trips
Group Trips
Group study trips of 5-20 students/PhD students are elgibile for funding. The maximum funding period is 12 days.
The grant consists of a lump sum of 45€ per person per day.
Only lecturers or teachers at FU Berlin can apply for funding in the category group study trip. Should a PROMOS scholarship be granted, the applicant assumes responsibility for the processing of finances pertaining to the trip and the realisation and management of the trip's content.
The Exkursionsrichtlinie der Freien Universität Berlin applies in every case.
Please take note of the following:
The funds are only available to students or doctoral students who are completing a degree at the Freie Universität Berlin. Exchange students and students enrolled at other universities cannot receive funding. Receiving other scholarships of German public funds at the same time as PROMOS is not permitted.
Students and Doctoral students (for example research assistants and student employees) employed by FU Berlin who are eligible to apply for a business travel allowance for the trip will not receive funding.
Financial support is only offered if there is no travel warning from the German Foreign Ministry for the host country.
Competition Trips
PROMOS funds competition trips for 5-20 students (e.g. Model United Nations, EU simulation events, programming world championships).
The grant consists of a lump sum of 45€ per person per day.
Only lecturers or teachers at FU Berlin can apply for the group trip. Should a PROMOS scholarship be granted, the applicant assumes responsibility for the processing of finances pertaining to the trip and the realisation and management of the trip's content.

Application Procedure
To apply for a group trip or a competition trip, please complete the application form below (PDF) and the list of participants (Excel) and submit them together with the other documents mentioned below.
For compatibility reasons, we recommend opening and filling out the PDF with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and not using a mobile device.
